Brendan Kelly
Brendan Kelly is an Associate Attorney on the Criminal Team at The Irving Law Firm, where he represents clients with dedication and careful attention to detail.
Raised in Northern Virginia, Brendan completed his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science at the University of Mary Washington in 2012. He then spent several years abroad, first teaching English in Madrid, Spain, and later volunteering with the Peace Corps in Rwanda. During his service, he collaborated with Save The Children at the Mahama Refugee Camp, providing English instruction to Burundian refugees.
Brendan returned to the United States to attend George Mason University for law school, earning his degree in 2022. Throughout his studies, he focused on public service. In 2020, he worked with Colorado Legal Services as an Equal Justice Works Fellow, helping protect the rights of migrant farm workers. In 2021, he joined the Poverty Law Clinic, assisting members of the community facing significant economic hardship. He was also active in the trial advocacy association and served as its president during his final year.
Following graduation, Brendan joined the Fredericksburg Public Defenders Office, where he spent three years advocating for clients who relied on appointed counsel. He continues to support the law school community by volunteering as a judge for trial advocacy competitions.
Outside the office, Brendan enjoys reading, staying active, and spending time with his dog, Lana.
