Carolyn Abbate
Carolyn Abbate leads the Family Law Division at our Arlington office. She uses her experience and skills to help individuals and families navigate divorce, custody, and support matters with strength and clarity. An Arlington native, Carolyn combines local insight with over 15 years of focused legal experience, earning the trust of clients across Northern Virginia.
After graduating from the University of Virginia in 2004, Carolyn earned her J.D., cum laude, from George Mason University School of Law in 2009. Her commitment to family law was recognized early when she received the Virginia State Bar and American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers Family Law Book Award.
Carolyn’s work has been recognized by peers and clients alike. She has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America (2024), named a Virginia Super Lawyer (2023), and repeatedly honored as a Top Attorney by Arlington Magazine (2019, 2021–2024). In 2024, she was elected to the Board of Directors for the Arlington County Bar Association, reflecting her leadership within the legal community.
Known for her clarity, responsiveness, and steady advocacy, Carolyn approaches each case with the goal of helping families move forward with dignity. Whether negotiating settlements or representing clients in court, she is committed to ensuring her clients feel supported at every stage.
