Wells Thomason
Wells Thomason is an Associate Attorney with Fairfax Divorce Lawyers, serving on the Family Law team in the Arlington office. He earned his law degree from George Mason Antonin Scalia Law School and has experience assisting clients in both contested and uncontested divorce matters. His work has included helping individuals navigate issues involving property division, spousal support, and child custody while pursuing practical resolutions to complex family law disputes.
Before joining the firm, Wells worked with the Northern Virginia Bankruptcy Clinic, assisting financially vulnerable individuals through the bankruptcy process. He also gained experience at a corporate litigation firm in Dallas, Texas, where he worked on disputes involving debt related claims.
During law school, Wells served all three years on the Student Bar Association, helping oversee funding and administration for student organizations, law journals, and advocacy teams. He was also a member of the Journal of Law, Economics, and Policy and served as its Articles and Research Editor for the 2025 to 2026 academic year.
Prior to law school, Wells studied history and chemistry at Baylor University, with a focus on Chinese history. His professional background extends beyond the legal field and includes work on eviction moratorium policy during the COVID-19 pandemic, experience in corporate litigation, founding a real estate renovation business, investing in real estate, and earning a commercial ship captain’s license from the United States Coast Guard. This diverse experience allows him to bring practical insight and creative problem solving to his legal practice.
Outside the office, Wells remains active in business as an investor and strategic advisor to entrepreneurs. He enjoys studying the works of Benjamin Franklin and Charlie Munger, reading history and business literature, and perfecting his own barbecue techniques, including a distinctive smoked pork rib recipe inspired by both Texas and North Carolina traditions. When the weather cooperates, he enjoys hiking along the Potomac River with his wife or spending time outdoors with their bulldogs.
